I’ve been reading a lot of AP throughput tests recently.
In every case they showed that the kit produced by the vendor producing it is significantly more awesome than every other piece of kit being tested. It makes sense. I can’t ever see Aruba (for example) publishing a piece of marketing which suggests that Cisco kit is actually faster. T’would clearly be bonkers.
This is described perfectly at the wlanlessonslearnt blog.
The last line of this post is a perfect summary:
Looking at these results there are two important aspects to take out of it. One – who commissioned the assessment. Two – don’t take the results seriously.
The only exception to this I can think of is on Keith Parson’s blog. His methodology is clear and his results appear to be completely unbiased.
Welcome to the club. Cisco vs Aruba argument is my favorite – their YT videos are hilarious ☺ http://youtu.be/HwFzbkuka_M
I wonder if it’s considered bad etiquette to conduct that test on loan kit?… 🙂
